Cuperior Collection was founded by Oliver Elst back in 2016 and was that time focussed on contemporary African art and its diaspora. In 2020 the collection evolved and opened a wider range of artists around the world in which he can identify a big potential and unique and characteristic practice. His target is to build a significant collection of masterpieces by established and emerging contemporary artists found in an early stage with a strong and distinctive character. He aims to make an impact with his collection and to inspire more young people to collect and promote art.
The word "Cuperior" describes the philosophy of the collection. The word is a combination of the latin word "cupere"/desire and "prior"/the precursor.
